| Hat Policy | ||||
Upland High School's policy on hats is as follows:
Students are permitted to wear hats for sun protective purposes. Hats may be worn outside on campus during school hours. Hats may not be worn inside. Only school sponsored hats purchased through either the UHS student store or school sponsored organizations may be worn. Wave caps, berets, bandannas, beanies, headbands, hairnets and/or scarves may not be worn either in isolation or in combination with a hat. No gang-related hats or other gang-related headgear may be worn on campus or at school activities. Hats purchased through the student store or school sponsored organizations may not be altered in any way (e.g. have added buttons or pins or any type of additional inked or sewn-on markings). Once indoors, students who refuse to remove their hats may be suspended for defiance (see discipline matrix). Students who choose to wear hats outside may not refuse to remove their caps inside due to a "messy" or "unkempt" hairdo caused by wearing a hat. Students must also remove jacket or sweatshirt hoods from their heads once indoors.
| Approved Hats | ||||
All profits from hats sold through the student store will go towards a scholarship to be awarded to an Upland High School student. School sponsored organizations may sell pre-approved hats as part of their fundraising efforts.
| Discipline Policy Regarding the Hat Policy | ||||
