Required Credits

Passing grades in all of the courses listed below are required for students to receive an Upland High School diploma.

To include Algebra I, Algebra A & B, or Algebra Review

These courses must be completed prior to the junior year and many not be postponed.
This is a California State Graduation Requirement.
May not be waived. Academic courses may not substitute for PE.

Must be satisfied by courses in foreign language, fine arts*, business technology (keyboarding recommended), industrial education, family & consumer sciences, or computer science

*Fine Arts includes all art courses or photography designated with a "P", all theatre courses and all music courses designated with VPA credit except Color Guard and Winter Guard. Please see your counselor for UC acceptable list.

Graduation Competencies

To be eligible for the UHS diploma, all students are required to demonstrate skills in reading, writing and mathematics in addition to satisfying course and credit requirements listed above. Competency tests will be administered in grades 9 through 12.

Earning Credits

Credit is earned for grades of A through D in all courses. Standard credit is 5 units for each semester course passed. Some courses are offered on a variable credit basis. In courses designated variable credit, a student may earn more or fewer units than the standard, depending upon the amount of work completed during the grading period.
